Unavailable website or landing page in Merchant Center: what it means
These issues mean Google couldn't load the page it was sent to, or what it loaded didn't look like a working store. There are two flavours: product-level ("product page unavailable") and account-level ("website needs improvement" / unavailable website).
Product page unavailable (product level)
- Deleted or renamed products still in the feed. Re-sync your feed app.
- Redirects to the homepage or a collection instead of the product.
- Bot protection or geo-blocking that blocks Google's crawler (some firewall and "country redirect" apps do this).
- robots.txt rules blocking product URLs.
- Pages that only work after JavaScript loads, or that time out.
See How to fix: Product page unavailable.
Website unavailable or needs improvement (account level)
- A storefront password is still on (Shopify: Online Store > Preferences).
- "Coming soon" pages, placeholder text, demo products, empty collections.
- Checkout doesn't complete, or products can't be added to cart.
- Missing basics: contact info, policies, clear product information.
Google's landing page requirements want pages that work, are on your verified domain, and let people buy the product shown.
Test it yourself
Open five affected product links from Merchant Center on your phone, in a private window, on mobile data. If anything is off for you, it's off for Google.
Before you click "Request review": Google gives a suspended account only a limited number of review requests. After those, a cool-down period starts, and it can get longer after each unsuccessful review (Google's suspension guide). Fix everything first, then ask once.
